The Flat Life

Do you know the story of the flats?

A couple of years ago on a special birthday trip to Paris, accompanied by my travel companion Heather the tradition was born. Diane, Heather's MIL mother in law, elaborately made them for this very special trip donned with French berets, use carte de Paris, shopping bags etc! they were quite fancy indeed.

More portable these days, I've made them for my travels and partners along the way. Whether spa therapists in Bali, tour guides in Egypt, or a balloon pilot in Turkey, they all chuckle and smile at them.

As we were all getting acclimated to one another and new environments, the flats hit the ground pretty quickly in and around town...

In the condo..

Having breakfast with a little princess...

Out to dinner...

Having a mango lassi...

Enjoying a wonderful rice biryani of sorts...

Hanging in shrine...

Eek, at a Thai massage place where this ladyboy kinds looked creepily like the joker, don't you think?

Then on our road trip to Maesai on the cross over to Burma since I couldn't go, my flat did! this woman sewed Leo's sarong and got a dollar tip and a photo with the flats.

This is a water well where you can stop to drink

With hill tribe long necks...

And exiting Burma...
