We understand there are some 400+ temples and shrines in Kyoto so we figured we had only seen a tiny fraction and had a ton left to see!
Today was our last day in Kyoto at the ANA Hotel so we packed up then loaded up at the lunch buffet. Their offerings were vast including salads, seafood entrees, made to order pasta, steak, pizza, desserts, etc. Having little sleep and eating lightly, this buffet turned me inside out and proved to be problematic on the ride.
The green tea mochi squares were my favorite along with the matcha green tea latte with soft serve vanilla ice cream! Sony and Leo are admirable eating partners. The look on Leo's face below was right about his tipping point but he continued to pound it down!
After a spirited first day of photo competition, we decided to change/add a category or two.
BEST LEAVES/COLOR
BEST TEMPLE
MOST CREATIVE
MOST JAPANESE
BEST FLATS
BEST OVERALL
TOFUKUJI TEMPLE
When you're in Kyoto, a Geisha siting is a treasure. Leo and Sony had seen a couple the other night, called gaiko when I opted to stay at the hotel after a Japanese hot bath soak. These two were probably the teenage geisha in training which are called maiko.

Check her out; she was funky looking. Very odd to see a Japanese person with blond hair.
On the train to Nara after a very busy Saturday in Kyoto!
Love the lantern lit path and the Starbucks cup! The flats crack me up!
