Sweet Faces of Cambodia Village Kids

Former monk, Phalla Cheang built several "village schools" in remote areas where access to education, specifically english language learning was sparse.  Through donations from visitors these children are learning basic conversational greetings, colors and numbers, math and so on.

The school was especially overcrowded due to daily school closures from flooding.  Don't let the simplicity of the structure fool you...

At first, these kids were wary of my photo taking until they could see their own smiling faces on my camera!  Look at those wonderful smiles.

Volunteer teachers from England and Germany shared a new method for learning colors and shapes from face painting!

This is Sem  - he said the best way to remember his name is "Handsome Sem."

The teachers are all volunteers for the organization.

The kids have warmed up to the camera and now EVERYONE shares a smile with you!

The advanced english students were quite eloquent!  Do you remember making this learning tool?  This is how they were learning colors!
