Upon returning from galavanting, exploring and experiencing life differently, I landed back in Global Staffing at Starbucks with familiar faces and new friends. Dixie, my former IT partner offered her home to host a slideshow of my travels. Surrounded by fun, travel loving folks we came together, enjoyed turkish food courtesy of Sureyya Gokeri of Istanbul Imports, the woman with whom I traveled to Turkey.
A sampling of my favorite photos, the foods, and friends follows:

Doesn't this look yummy? It's babaganoush with crisp vegetables!
These dolmas were fabulous ~ tangy grape leaves stuffed with a rice and currant mixture, topped with lemon slices and pomegranate seeds.
Tish and I smiling over a hand carved buddha made from crocodile wood. Up close, check out how sharp the tree can be!
Sureyya makes a great Tabouli salad. The bulgur is mixed with Turkish red pepper paste but this time she made it extra special with cauliflower, mixed greens, tomatoes, red peppers, and oranges.
This kefir, herb, garlic dip was brilliantly flavored and served with roasted brussel sprouts, red peppers and pita bread. Quite nice.
Dessert is a semolina cake drizzled with an orange simple syrup, garnished with coconut.

Lights down low, the slideshow began on the big screen. A little technical challenge, the slideshow didn't transfer to the screen in the order I had planned. We had a good laugh at jumping from Japan to Bali to Turkey to Bali to Egypt to Japan and so on...
Louise returned from Egypt 36 hours before to join us! |
After the slideshow there were 10 slides as a test...Alicia, Josiane, Carlos answered multiple questions but everyone came away with a prize from Bali, or alabaster rocks to Jody, a batik card to Tish.
Thanks for coming everyone! My gratitude to Tori for figuring out the laptop to television thing.
To Dixie and Tori for hosting.
